As a society, how do we remember the past, and in what form?

Remembering, or even choosing to forget, past events is important, because we can use our knowledge of the past to decide how we want to influence the future.

Despite the importance of historical memory in the construction of national and local identities, including a European one, it is not currently included in the school curricula. Students are often unaware of how past events and their memory have influenced us today.
